Hemp Milk

I've been making my own nut and seed milk for years now and, up until recently, there was still something about it that seemed too hard, or not quite right. I didn't like the idea of having to throw out almond or hemp pulp after squeezing the ground nuts and seeds in my nut milk bag (because, let's be honest, there isn't always the time to find creative ways to reuse the pulp). And, although easy, having to even use a nut milk bag made the process seem less than convenient.

If you're on the same page, I have great news for you. Seriously, you're gonna freak out. A good friend recently became my roommate, and brought with her a magical Vitamix blender. While I had temporarily stopped making my own nut and seed milk to spite my nut milk bag, she was whipping up hemp milk in 30 seconds flat. GET THIS: With a high-speed blender, you can make hemp milk WITHOUT having to strain out the pulp. That's right - just blend and you're DONE. What can be easier than that?!

You can also easily flavor your milk to your liking. We've been using just a splash of vanilla extract and maple syrup, but you can use honey, stevia or even get creative and try putting in some maca or cacao powder to give it a superfood boost!

Hemp Milk

Ingredients

• 1/4 cup hemp seeds
• 4 cups filtered water
• 1/2 tsp vanilla
• 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
• High-speed Blender (like Vitamix or Blendtec)

Directions

1. Add all the ingredients to your high-speed blender and blend for up to 2 minutes (until the milk is smooth).

2. You can even soak your hemp seeds for a few minutes beforehand to aid in blending, but it isn't necessary!
